Rising like a
Phoenix from the ashes of the now defunct classic
rock/blues/soul/R&B band known as The Front Street
Band; the Front Street Blues Band was born. Fed up with
hearing requests for such classics as Mustang Sally, Free
Bird and Old Time Rock and Roll, bassist Tracy Garneau and
guitarist Cliff McClanahan decided to set a course to form
Detroit's hottest new original jumpin' and jivin',
boogie-woogie blues band.
In less than three years, the Front Street Blues Band rose
from the status of "a new bar band" to the 2007 Overall
Band Champions of the Detroit Blues Society's Blues
Challenge. Very impressive results in a city that has to
hold nine preliminary rounds plus a final to determine that
coveted spot.
